Prologue
I have already made a thorough review for the original series, so instead of repeating myself, I will add any differences this movie has in comparison with the series. Please read first the review of Tatakae! Chou Robot Seimeitai Transformers before you read this one.
Value & Enjoyment: 10
A lot darker and violent than the series, this movie has fast-paced plot and very epic-scaled premice. It easily becomes one of the best chapters in the whole series. Although I don’t like Transformers that much anymore, I liked it a lot. I recommend it to all fans of the series and to all newbies who want to watch a good sci-fi / action movie without any demands in a good story.
Animation & Sound: 8
A lot better than the series, with a rock opening theme song that kicks ass (I recommend you find and listen to the full version of it). There is a lot of attention given to almost everything, making it almost mistake-free. It can easily be seen by even nick-picky ones in graphics.
Story & Characters: 7
The only point in the series were you can actually see robots with some character development (I am referring to Hot Rod, becoming Rodimus Prime). Many renown robots are killed or evolved in other forms, others are introduced and expand the cast even more. The story has so many plot twists that change a lot the main story thereafter. The typical “good-guys must save the world from huge monster with sacred artifact†story is rather ridiculous but it is enjoyable if you don’t bother too much with it.
