Story: 6
This is the fifth One Piece movie. There are no ties with the main story. It is a stand-alone movie and can be regarded as a typical filler episode. The story takes place after episode 130 (right after Robin joins the crew as they depart from Arabasta).

The Straw Hat pirate crew is looking for a very precious demonic sword, possessed by one of Zorro’s old friends. Internal strife and corruption of raw power turn one friend against the other, as the sword’s demonic powers are about to be unleashed.

The story is rather simple. But it is packed with nice action sequences and has betrayals to spice things up.

Characters: 5
The Straw Hat pirates are as funny as they were in the series. Since this is a filler story, no character development takes place. Zorro is the main character of the story.

Zorro’s old friend was not very interesting. And had only hints of backdrop story.

Animation: 8
The graphics are of much higher quality than the series. There are many aesthetic details in the animation and the motion fluidity is very good.

Sound: 7
Sound effects and voice acting were kept the same as in the series.

Value: 3
This movie has nothing to offer to the series. It is a fine stand-alone adventure but there is no reason to rewatch it.

Enjoyment: 6
The fighting scenes were great but the general strife fails to be interesting. It was used many times already in the series and simply got tiresome here.

Verdict
Yo ho ho and a bottle of filler… I mean rum.
