Story: 7
This is the second One Piece movie. There are no ties with the main story. It is a stand-alone movie and can be regarded as a typical filler episode. The story takes place after episode 53 (right before the crew enters the Red Line).

The ship and Nami of the Straw Hat pirate crew are stolen by a group of card pirates, who create a super weapon on Clockwork Island. The Straw Hat pirates storm them to get back what is theirs… oh, yes, and help the defenseless islanders.

The story is rather simple. But it is packed with a lot of action sequences and has very fast pace. So, it is enjoyable as a whole. Also, the conclusion is not a complete happy ending, making the last impression of it to be better.

Characters: 6
The Straw Hat pirates are as funny as they were in the series. Since this is a filler story, no character development takes place. Sanji’s obsession to save Nami was as hilarious as ever.

The main bad guys were just generic villains with no backdrop story. But their quirky personalities made them a bit sympathetic.

Animation: 7
The graphics are generally of higher quality than the series. The way the camera moves during the action scenes is making even typical blows to appear great. The general motifs of Clockwork Island were wacky enough to be considered interesting.

Sound: 7
Sound effects and voice acting were kept the same as in the series.

Value: 3
This movie has nothing to offer to the series. It is a fine stand-alone adventure but there is no reason to rewatch it.

Enjoyment: 8
The fighting scenes were great thanks to the camera angles. There were battle choreography and fighting strategies involved (notice Sanji’s shoes or how that water-lady was beaten). Also, Nami’s seduction hints were spicing things up. Very enjoyable, as a whole.

Verdict
Yo ho ho and a bottle of filler… I mean rum.
