Story: 6
This is the fourth One Piece movie. There are no ties with the main story. It is a stand-alone movie and can be regarded as a typical filler episode. The story takes place after episode 130 (right after Robin joins the crew as they depart from Arabasta).

The Straw Hat pirate crew joins a pirate competition for the huge money prize. But an ex-navy officer intends to destroy all the participants and thus remain without competition (in general).

The story is rather simple. But it is packed with nice action sequences and has an avenging youth and a betrayal to spice things up.

Characters: 6
The Straw Hat pirates are as funny as they were in the series. Since this is a filler story, no character development takes place. The avenging youth was not very interesting.

The main bad guy is just a generic villain with only hints of backdrop story. But his cold and grim personality made him a bit interesting.

Animation: 8
The graphics are of much higher quality than the series. There are many aesthetic details in the animation and the motion fluidity is very good.

Sound: 7
Sound effects and voice acting were kept the same as in the series.

Value: 3
This movie has nothing to offer to the series. It is a fine stand-alone adventure but there is no reason to rewatch it.

Enjoyment: 7
The fighting scenes were great and the reuse of the strategy against Crocodile (now against Gasparte) was interesting. And the shock of revelation of Luffy’s new bounty never gets old.

Verdict
Yo ho ho and a bottle of filler… I mean rum.
