Review - Karakurijou no Mecha Kyohei

Story: 6
This is the seventh One Piece movie. There are no ties with the main story. It is a stand-alone movie and can be regarded as a typical filler episode. The story takes place after episode 226 (right after the filler episodes after the Skyepia story ark).
The Straw Hat pirate crew is looking for a very precious crown on Mecha Island, based on the words of an old woman. Mechanical monstrosities block their way.
The story is rather simple. But it is packed with nice action sequences and has a small plot twist to spice things up.
Characters: 5
The Straw Hat pirates are as funny as they were in the series. Since this is a filler story, no character development takes place.
The main bad guy is just a generic villain with only hints of backdrop story. But his ridiculous personality made him a bit interesting.
Animation: 8
The graphics are of much higher quality than the series. There are many aesthetic details in the animation and the motion fluidity is very good. The mecha designs were crazy and generally out of place in such a series.
Sound: 7
Sound effects and voice acting were kept the same as in the series.
Value: 3
This movie has nothing to offer to the series. It is a fine stand-alone adventure but there is no reason to rewatch it.
Enjoyment: 6
The fighting scenes were great but the general story was boring and the mecha genre irrelevant with One Piece.
Verdict
Yo ho ho and a bottle of filler… I mean rum.
